Bayern are in the hunt for a record eighth consecutive Bundesliga title but they will face tough opposition at the Signal Iduna Park this evening. Dortmund have picked up 27 points from their last 10 games and in Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho have two of the hottest prospects in world football.

Emre Can and Mats Hummels are both fit to start for Dortmund and will be vital to the home side’s defensive stability. Jadon Sancho is believed to have recovered from a slight knock that has seen him restricted to the bench in both of Dortmund’s previous outings.

For Bayern, they will miss the presence of Thiago Alcantara in the middle of midfield but should have Serge Gnabry back in contention. Both Corentin Tolisso and Phillipe Coutinho are out for the foreseeable future with ankle injuries.

Germany’s Top Two in Fine Form

Both sides have had a perfect return to Bundesliga action with two wins apiece, but tonight will be a much bigger challenge than either have faced so far. Dortmund are four points behind the leaders and will feel that a win puts them firmly in the title race, but they come up against an impressive Bayern team.

Since the sacking of Nico Kovac in November no Bundesliga club has picked up more points than Bayern Munich and in Robert Lewandowski they have the league’s most potent goal-scorer. New coach Hansi Flick was only given the role on a permanent basis in April and will want to prove that he has what it takes to win the first championship of his managerial career.
