Barcelona player ratings vs Leganés

The academy striker, Fati, proved decisive and along with Messi was the only one to offer a threat in attack. Griezmann remains completely disconnected.

Ansu Fati.

Ter Stegen: the German had few saves to make. Guerrero saw a shot saved off the line after beating Ter Stegen. He struck just wide shortly after. After that, in the second half, he had just one shot on target to deal with and he saved that with no problem. Came off his line to prevent one dangerous attack and remains an asset with the ball at his feet - 7.

Sergi Roberto: was not as lively as he was in the first half against Mallorca when he caused several problems for the opposition. Leganés killed space better than Mallorca and because of that, he failed to provide any solutions in attack. Subbed off for Semedo - 6.

Piqué: a nasty knock to the knee forced him off in the second half even though he continued after it - he looked recovered but with games every few days, it will not be ideal for any sort of recovery. Didn't have much to do but did did try to get involved in the attack once or twice - 7.

Lenglet: saved Barcelona with a save on the line. Saw a yellow card in the second half - 7.

Junior: his connection with Ansu Fati in the first half for the goal was much needed for a player struggling to adapt. He has played in 12 games with Barcelona as a starter and they have won all 12 games. Still finding his feet but assist for the goal was his highlight - 7.

Sergio Busquets: same story as always from Busquets, who provided balance in the middle of the field. Nothing fancy but continually progressed the ball into better areas than where it came from - 8.

Rakitic: the Croatian remains a player who provides a good option when rotations are needed. He does the basic things well and offers pressure in the middle. Too subdued in attack though, which is a pity because he can offer so much more - 6.

Arthur: high pass percentage but a lot of them were very basic. Insists he wants to stay at Barcelona and fight for a place but they are just words for now. The next numbers of games will decide his next step. Another game though where he didn't played the full 90 minutes either - 6.

Messi: seeing Messi in midfield looking for the ball while the rest of his teammates looked on passively was an image  too often repeated against Leganés. Messi wants to win and he wants to win now. If he has to do it all, Michael Jordan style, then he will. For the second goal, he burrowed his way forward, shaking off a number of tackles. He was fouled and got up to finish the penalty too. This is obviously not the path to a Champions League though and he needs more help - 9.

Griezmann: another worrying performance from Griezmannn. Setien seems keen to let Griezmann know that he is counting on him but it's clear that the former Atlético player is disconnected and can't find his position in the team. He does not offer any solutions in attack. He scored a nice goal but it was ruled out for offside. Either Ansu Fati or Braithwaite will eventually take one of the chances Griezmann couldn't - 5.

Ansu Fati: one of those players with innate talent. His first shot was the game-changer and he struck it very cleanly despite having defenders in front of him. He grew into the game after that and offered a solution to Leganes stacked defense. Taken off after 53 minutes despite being the most likely player to cause even more problems for Leganes - 8.

SUBSTITUTES:

Luis Suárez: not very active during his time on the field and lacking chemistry with the rest of his teammates. Needs more minutes and that's obvious but he got over 30 under his belt against Leganés and should be set for a start in Sevilla.

Semedo: Provided more depth on the right than Roberto before him. A lovely assist for Griezmann but it was chalked out for offside.

Arturo Vidal: much more calm in his approach during his cameo. He knew a yellow would force him to miss the Sevilla game and he acted accordingly.

Riqui Puig: played over 20 minutes to the delight of Barcelona fans. He almost scored too but Cuellar saved it. Won a dangerous free and looked lively.

Umtiti: played in his first game since the restart. Got himself booked for a really late challenge late on.
