For the first time, the number of Covid-19 recoveries reported over the past 24 hours surpassed the number of new infections by 6,000 cases according to statistics revealed by the ministry of health. Presently India is reporting the highest number of daily cases globally.

The country reported on Monday the highest single-day recoveries, taking the overall total to 2,405,585, out of the 3,167,323 confirmed cases.

Dr. Balram Bhushan the chief of ICMR blamed the rapid increase of Covid-19 cases on the irresponsibility of people not wearing face masks or abiding by health and safety protocols at the Health Ministry's coronavirus press briefing as he stated: "Irresponsible, less cautious people who are not wearing masks are driving the pandemic in India".

The recovery rate in the country has been increasing lately and making up for the surging numbers of new infections "The recovery rate is now more than 75%. The country's Covid mortality rate - at 1.58 percent - is one of the lowest in the world. The number of active cases is 22.2 percent of the total cases, and the recovered cases are 3.4 times more than the active cases in the country," Rajesh Bhushan, Secretary, Union Health Ministry said.

India's caseload since the start of the pandemic has exceeded the 3 million mark while virus-related deaths are nearing 60,000.
