David Silva is set to miss Real Sociedad's first game of the season against Valladolid after the club's new signing tested positive for coronavirus.

The club tweeted: "Sociedad informs that @21LVA has tested positive for COVID-19 in the test carried out at Policlínica Gipuzkoa. "The player is asymptomatic and is self-isolating."

Ivan Rakitic could line out for Sevilla when they play Atlético Madrid on matchday 1 of the new season. All indications are that the Andalucian club will confirm the Croation's return to the Pizjuan shortly...

Fixtures are in !!

Real Madrid will play Getafe; Barcelona will play Elche on matchday one!

So they assure us in a few minutes we will start learning some fixtures.

The fifth and final number has been drawn by a Madrid doctor, who, after a quick discussion about the coronavirus situation, has pulled the number "1". So that leaves us with "12751". This number will determine one of a possible 5,000 permutations for the fixtures. The RFEF super-computer is now working overtime, and we should have some fixtures to give you shortly.

Policeman, Mario Rodriguez, draws the fourth number, which is number "5". Of course, none of this will really means anything til we have a fixture list. We'll keep you posted.

Julian Sanchez has drawn a "1", while the second number drawn by a cleaner at the RFEF offices (didn't catch her name) is number "2". Five numbers will be drawn from five seperate pots to determine the fixture list. The third number, drawn by a Madrid school principle, is number "7".

Julian Sanchez, head coordinator for emergency services in Madrid, will be one of the special guests to draw the balls this evening. He's made his way on stage.

The show has started at the Salón Luis Aragones!

Real Valladolid sign Shon Weissman

Great signig for Los Pucelanos.

Hmmmm, indeed. Answers on a postcard!

Six minutes to go

The ceremony is set to start in six minutes, so stick with us!

Koeman overseeing first session

Ronald Koeman is directing his first training session as we speak, with the session kicking off almost one hour ago at 17.30 (Spanish time). The players will train individually on different pitches at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, according to a statement released by the club...

Huesca return to the top flight

Newly promoted Huesca were back training today as they prepare  to fight to stay up in 2020-21, something they were unable to achieve in 2018-19 when they played their first-ever season in the Primera Division.

Silva unveiled at Sociedad

"I am very excited and my family is too. Being back in Spain, being back in LaLiga, and coming to Real Sociedad, who are playing really good football which suits my skills"

David Silva is back in LaLiga

It will be nice to see the 34-year-old Spaniard back on home soil in 2020/21. After 10 incredible years at Man City, David Silva will make his first LaLiga appearance since 2010 with Real Sociedad...

Nothing to be read into from Messi's absence from training today, according to ESPN's Samuel Marsden...

Back to work

Like many LaLiga clubs, Real Madrid returned to training following a short holiday, with just two weeks to go until they begin the defence of their title...

Odegaard back at Madrid

Following his impressive season with Real Sociedad, Madrid fans will be delighted to see Martin Odegaard back at the club's Valdebebas training ground.

The young Norweigan could be set for an important role in 2020/21 under Zinedine Zidane, who had asked that the youngster be brought back from Sociedad one year earlier (the two clubs had made a verbal agreement that the player would stay in San Sebastian for two seasons).

The 20 teams for LaLiga 2020-2021

Below are the 20 teams (in alphabetical order) who will compete for LaLiga 2020-21, including newcomers Cádiz, Huesca and Elche.

Cádiz return to the top flight after a 14-year absence, while Huesca are back following a one-year hiatus after they qualified for the Primera División for the first time in their history for the 2018-19 season. They were relegated at the end of that season, but find themselves back in the top tier after they beat Numancia 3-0 on July 20.

Elche, meanwhile, are back in Primera Division five years after their relegation for financial regularities, following their victory over Deportivo La Coruña. A goal

Real Madrid, Barcelona: when does LaLiga 2020-21 kick off?

When does the 2020-21 season kick off?

The draw for the 2020-21 LaLiga season takes place today, 31 August, two weeks later than the previous campaign kicked-off on August 16, 2019. As a result of the coronavirus pandemic the start of this campaign has been put back officially until September 12, although assuming the LFP persists with the deeply unpopular Friday night fixture in 2020-21 the first game will take place on September 11. The new campaign is scheduled to end on 23 May, 2021. Rakitic to Sevilla

One man who looks set for the Camp Nou exit door is Ivan Rakitic, who is reportedly on the verge of confirming his return to Sevilla, where he played from 2011 to 2014 before joining Barcelona.

Bartomeu-Messi meeting likely on Wednesday to discuss future

2020-21: the first season of the post-Messi era for Barcelona?

Will 2020-21 be the first season of the post-Messi era for Barcelona? If so, it will  havecome perhaps more unexpectedly than the coronavirus crisis, after the player sent the now-famous Burofax last week to demand that the club allow him to leave immediately.

As reported by AS, a meeting between Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu and Leo Messi's father, Jorge Messi, is likely to take place this coming Wednesday to discuss the player's situation. Read more on that story....

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the LaLiga 2020/21 fixture list draw. The 2019/20 season finished just a few weeks ago, but there will be a incredibly fast turnaround due to the stoppage between March and June because of the coronavirus.

Real Madrid have barely finished celebrating their title victory and now have to get ready to defend it, while Barcelona will be looking to right some wrongs from last year, but may have to do so without Lionel Messi.
