Real Madrid: Bale to Tottenham "close but not done", says agent
Gareth Bale's agent, Jonathan Barnett, has told AFP that a deal between Madrid and Spurs is getting closer. Los Blancos are also talking to Manchester United.
Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on an agreement to re-sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid, the Welshman’s agent says.
Bale to Spurs "close but not done", says Real Madrid man's agent
"It's close but not done,” Jonathan Barnett told AFP when asked on Wednesday about talks between Spurs and Madrid. “It's a complicated deal."
Los Blancos are also in negotiations with Manchester United about a deal for the 31-year-old, who has been at the Bernabéu since 2013, but the forward appears to prefer a return to North London.
“Gareth still loves Spurs, it’s where he wants to be,” Barnett told the BBC on Tuesday.
Madrid want permanent deal rather than loan
AS understands that Madrid would prefer a permanent transfer over a loan and are looking to pick up a fee for the player, but Tottenham are doing their best to reduce the Spaniards’ demands.
Bale - who came close to leaving the Spanish capital for China last summer - has become a forgotten man at Madrid under head coach Zinedine Zidane, making just two substitute appearances in the final 14 LaLiga games of last season.
Reguilón set for Tottenham switch
Spurs are also in talks with Madrid over left-back Sergio Reguilón, who is poised to move to England for an initial 30 million euros, signing a contract running until 2025.
Los Merengues have negotiated a 40-million-euro buy-back option lasting for two years.
