Gio Reyna scores first goal of the season for Borussia Dortmund
The young star from the United States started the first game of the season for Borussia Dortmund and scored a goal in the teams 3-0 victory over Mochengladbach.
Gio Reyna is one of the players to watch this season in the Bundesliga. The United States teenager had a great pre-season with Borussia Dortmund, scoring in three consecutive games. On Monday he continued this form, scoring his first official goal of the 2020/21 campaign in the DFB Pokal against Duisburg.
Lucien Favre gives Reyna confidence
Dortmund started the new Bundesliga season on Saturday against Borussia Monchengladbach at the Signal Iduna Park. The head coach Lucien Favre decided to put Gio Reyna in the starting line-up and the 17-year-old responded by scoring a goal in the 35th minute of the game.
The teenager scored the first goal of the game for his side who ended up winning 3-0 and picking up their first three points of the Bundesliga season.
Favre opted to put Reyna alongside Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho for the team's new attacking trio. Borussia Dortmund's next game will be on Saturday against Augsburg away and then they have to face Bayern Munich in the DFB Pokal final on 30 September.
