Concacaf announces the 2021 Gold Cup draw

Concacaf announced that on Monday they will host the draw for the 2021 Gold Cup tournament that is going to be held in several stadiums across the United States. The coaches of several countries will participate 'virtually' in this event due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The draw is going to be held on Monday and will involve the 12 national teams which earned a place in the Gold Cup qualifiers through their performances in the Concacaf Nations League group stage. This includes the last nationals from the League A groups, the runners-up in League B Groups and the winners of the League C groups.

Concacaf welcome Qatar

Every two years Concacaf invite a country outside of the region to participate in the Gold Cup and this year Qatar will be the guest for the competition. The 2024 World Cup host will be in the fourth pot with the winning three teams from the preliminary qualifiers.

The top six teams based on Concacaf rankings will be seeded into matchups 1-6 with the next six drawn from a single pot. After the direct elimination play over three match days between 2-6 July 2021, the 12 teams will be reduced to a final three who will qualify for the Group Stage.
