Konrad de la Fuente called up to Barcelona’s first team

The United States striker made his official debut for Ronald Koeman's side during a preseason game and he is part of the team that will face Celta on Thursday.

Estados UnidosUpdate:
Konrad de la Fuente called up to Barcelona’s first team

FC Barcelona let go of Luis Suárez this season and with the transfer window closing on 4 October, it appears the team is unlikely to sign another striker. This opens up the door for Konrad de la Fuente who has been with Barcelona B since 2018 and made his official debut with the first team last month during a preseason game against Nastic.

Konrad’s first call up this season

Last year Konrad de la Fuente was called up to the first team for the UEFA Champions League game against Bayern Munich but never played. Barça line up against Celta Viga in Balaídos on Thursday for matchday 4 of LaLiga Santander and new manager Ronald Koeman has included the United States striker in the squad.

De la Fuente could make his competitive debut with Barcelona in this game and, if so, he do it wearing the number 29. During his time with the youth team the 19-year-old wore number 45.

Ronald Koeman is in a process of restructuring the team and he seems to be betting on the young blood this season. De la Fuente has his mind set on establishing himself as a regular starter for the Catalan giants after declining offers from other teams. The 19-year-old decided to renew his contract this summer until 2022 and his buyout clause is set at 100 million euros.
