REAL MADRID

Kylian Mbappé valued at €180 million

According to Transfermarkt, the French forward's price tag is €180 million. A study carried out by KPMG also values him at around the same price. His contract ends in June 2022, which would lower his fee.

Kylian Mbappé has a market value of €180 million. This is according to Transfermarkt and the audit firm KPMG, which in a report last May assessed the Frenchman at €177 million. Mbappé's price on Transfermarkt reached €200 million at one stage, but with the coronavirus pandemic it has dropped down to €180 million.

The young attacker's contract ends in June 2022 and the Parisians are willing to extend it at any price, well aware of the world-class player they have on their hands. They have offered Mbappé €150 million net for the next five seasons, however, talks haven't progressed, which gives hope to Real Madrid, who know they are in pole position to sign him from Ligue 1.

2021 decisive in Mbappé's future

If the situation stays the same, next summer will be decisive: the window in which PSG must sell him, renew his contract or risk losing him for free in 2022. AS has already reported that Leonardo's position is firm: he prefers to let him leave for free in 2022 over negotiating a selling price.

If a club is going to buy a player that is entering the final year of their contract, they will pay less than the player's value indicates because in a year they can sign as a free agent. Therefore, Mbappé's price tag in 2021 with one year left to run on his contract could be around €130 or €150 million.

However, it will be difficult for PSG to agree to sell their star man for a price lower than his market value. In fact, it seems complicated for the Parisians to agree to negotiate for less than the current price of €180 million, the price they paid to Monaco for Mbappé or the €222 million they paid for Neymar.

No new faces at Madrid

Finally, there is the current financial situation at Madrid. Los Blancos did not sign a single player in the last transfer window for the first time since the 1980/81 season. The club's financial situation next summer will depend on how the pandemic evolves, as playing behind closed doors is having a huge impact on the club's annual turnover.
