New England Revolution player tests positive for coronavirus
This Tuesday the New England Revolution confirmed that a player has tested positive for coronavirus ahead of the first round of playoffs.
The New England Revolution is set to host Montreal Impact on 20 November ahead of the first round of the 2020 Major League Soccer play-offs. On Tuesday, the team from Boston confirmed that a player has tested positive for Covid-19 and for that reason the squad didn't train at the weekend.
The player, who is from the first team, tested positive on Sunday and he was isolated immediately. Fortunately no other players or staff members have tested for coronavirus as they continue to prepare their game against Montreal. New England resumed practice under coach Bruce Arena on Monday and Tuesday because the game is scheduled to be played on Friday.
“A New England Revolution first team player has been confirmed positive for COVID-19. Upon receipt of the preliminary positive test result during regular PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) testing on Sunday, Nov. 15, the player immediately self-isolated,” read the statement.
“The Revolution resumed training as scheduled on Monday, Nov. 16 as the team continues to prepare for Friday’s Eastern Conference Play-In Round match against the Montreal Impact to kick off the Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs.”
