World Cup 2022 facilities support Qatar’s AFC Asian Cup 2027 bid

The Qatar Football Association has delivered the third part of its bid to host the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, which includes all the government guarantee requirements that comply with the terms of the AFC regarding the hosting of the tournament.

The government guarantee pledged by Qatar confirms its commitment to fulfilling the regulatory requirements to host the tournament in accordance with the highest international standards that the Qatar Football Association seeks to meet in order to host the Asian Cup, in cooperation with all the relevant authorities and in accordance with the schedule approved by the AFC.

This third step is considered a resounding confirmation by the Qatari Football Federation that Qatar will fulfill all of its obligations related with hosting the Asian Cup, based on the tremendous experience it has acquired from organizing major sporting events. In this way, the City of Doha – the capital of sport – is well prepared to host the AFC tournament in 2027 and the 24 teams that will participate.

As such, there is an urgent need to equip between 8 to 10 stadiums according to the highest quality international standards – particularly since this competition requires such facilities as well as the best facilities for players and fans that are in line with the values and stature of the Asian Cup at a global level. This is something in which Qatar is distinguished particularly thanks to the legacy of hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2022.

The Qatar Football Association delivered the first part of the bid on 26 August, followed by the second part of the bid on 29 October, which included all of the legal requirements, and reinforced Qatar’s legacy in hosting both international and continental sporting events.

The State of Qatar’s ambition to host the 2027 Asian Cup is a natural extension of the nation’s vision in the sports sector and based on Qatar’s success in hosting similar tournaments.
