As the transfer window in Morocco closed, Raja Casablanca fans were left in shock as their club settled for only signing two new players. It was a surprise move following the team's humiliating CAF Champions League elimination to Egypt's Zamalek.

Raja managed to secure the services of the defender Marouane Hadhoudi and striker Noah Sadaoui to reinforce their squad, however, fans believe their squad needed much more strengthening following their African Champions League exit in the semi-finals.

The cub may face further trouble getting the Moroccan Federation to approve the new signings due to the financial crisis the club is experiencing as they haven't yet paid the players the rewards of winning the Moroccan league of reaching the Champions League semi-finals.

Wydad revamp squad

In sharp contrast, city rivals Wydad who were out of the CAF Champions League at the same stage as Raja (a 5-1 crushing aggregate defeat to  Al-Ahly), have had a very fruitful transfer window as they managed to make 11 new signings including the highly-ranked Ayoub El-Kaabi.

With 11 new deals closed, Wydad gave a huge boost to their squad as they managed to sign:  Zakaria El-Kenany, Anas Serhat, Libya's Muaid Ellafi, Tanzanian Simon Msuva, Sofiane El Moudane, Ayoub Benchaoui, Ayoub Skouma, Amine AboulFath, Mohamed Farhan, and Mohamed Rahim.

The Moroccan outfit has also let go of 19 players after the last campaign as some of them ran out of contracts while the rest were sent on loans or had their contracts terminated.

Wydad's opening fixture of the new campaign will be against Youssoufia Berrechid next Sunday, while Raja will face Fath Union Sport de Rabat.
