Portland Trail Blazers confirm positive coronavirus cases

The NBA preseason is set to start on 11 December and the Portland Trail Blazers were scheduled to host against the Sacramento Kings. Unfortunately the franchise have closed their practice facilities after three people tested positive for coronavirus in the space of four days.

Last week the Blazers opened up their training camps ahead of the beginning of the regular season, but the covid-19 virus has prevented them from completing more practices. The game against the Kings is still scheduled to be played on Friday.

"Over the past four days, we have had three positive covid-19 test results within our organization," Neil Olshey, President of Basketball Operations said in a statement released by the team.

"Out of an abundance of caution, having completed contact tracing, we are closing our practice facility today for deep cleaning while we run confirmatory tests."

According to the NBA's health and safety protocols, any person who tests positive for coronavirus can return after 10 days in isolation following the date of the first positive test or test negative twice at least 24 hours apart via PCR testing. The league will start in 22 December and there will only be 72-games this season.
