Álvaro Cervera: "Dest was the only threat on the right wing"
After defeating Barcelona, the Cádiz head coach said he was happy when Ronald Koeman took Sergiño Dest off, the only threat on the right wing.
Sergiño Dest has become a regular starter for FC Barcelona and coach Ronald Koeman has trusted him to take care of the right-back position with Sergi Roberto’s two-month layoff. On Saturday, Barça visited Cádiz for matchday 12 and they suffered their fourth defeat of the campaign after losing 2-1 at the Ramón de Carranza stadium.
Barcelona are having a horrible start to the La Liga season and fell to ninth place. After Saturday’s defeat Cádiz head coach, Álvaro Cervera, talked about how relieved he was when Sergiño Dest was subbed, because according to him, he was the biggest threat on the right side.
“When I saw that Dest was being replaced by Trincao towards the end of the second half with the game 2-1 in our favour, we felt a huge relief,” said Cervera in the post-match interview.
“Dest was Barcelona’s biggest attacking threat on the right side so when he came off, I told my team to be more compact because their spark had gone and we got the three points.”
Dest record at Barcelona
The United States international has seven appearances with Barcelona in LaLiga, but in those games the team has only won twice. Of those two victories, Dest stayed on the bench against Real Betis and played 61 minutes in the win against Osasuna.
