Real Madrid 2-0 Atlético Madrid: Match report
Reuters - Real Madrid showed why they are La Liga champions with a convincing 2-0 win at home to leaders Atletico Madrid in the derby on Saturday to end the visitors' unbeaten start to the league season.
Real Madrid made a blistering start and deservedly took the lead in the 15th minute when Casemiro headed home from a corner, leaving Atletico behind for the first time in their 11th league game of the season.
Dani Carvajal put Zinedine Zidane's Real side further at ease with a stunning strike in the 63rd minute which came off the post and into the net off keeper Jan Oblak for an own goal.
Atletico were utterly outplayed by the champions and did not have any attempts on goal in the first half, while they failed to manage a shot on target until the 80th minute when Saul Niguez's header was saved by Thibaut Courtois. Reporting by Richard Martin

It has been a very difficult week for us. We played tonight against a tough Atlético side. We'll keep going - there are lots of games. We're doing well, its hard to know how the season will play out. It's not your typical season with injuries etc. We were well on top tonight, pressed high, they had two chances. We're still in a very early stage of the season, but it was important to win tonight and we have Athletic Club during the week. I had a new baby this week and there was no better way to celebrate the birth than the way I did!
