Owen Otasowie makes his Premier League debut with Wolverhampton

Owen Otasowie came on in the second half against Chelsea and, at only 19 years of age, made his debut in the Premier League with Wolverhampton. The New York-born soccer player helped the Wolves beat the ‘Blues’ with an assist to Daniel Podence to level up the game, with Pedro Neto scoring the second goal to give Wolverhampton the three points.

The confidence he showed is fantastic, stepping out with the ball, showing how powerful he is,” Wolves captain Conor Coady said after the match. “He’s a great lad, you see him improving every day in training, which he does all the time now. He gets on with his business, gets on with trying to get better. It’s fantastic to see him out there. Over the years we’ve played quite a lot of young lads, and he’s the next one. He kept his shape. It’s not an easy game to come onto."

Nearly a year to his last game

Otasowie won the aerial duel and directed the ball to Podence who dribbled the ball inside the box and then shot a cannon with his right foot to find the back of the net. He had in fact already debuted with Wolves but that was in the Europa League against Besiktas on 12 December 2019, this was his maiden Premier League appearance.

United States international too

The 19-year-old already made his debut with the United States international team last month when he came in as a substitute against Wales. With the injury of Rául Jiménez, it is expected that he will see more minutes with Wolverhampton this season.
