Major League Soccer keeps up the expansion of the league by adding new franchises each season and the goal is to have 30 teams by 2023. Cincinnati, Nashville SC and Inter Miami CF made their debut in 2020 and for next season the league will welcome Austin FC. The team from Texas is not the only side that is ready to open its new doors, because Columbus Crew and Cincinnati are ready to play in their new ‘houses.’

Austin FC

Texas is one of the few states that are allowing fans during sporting events at a limited capacity amid the coronavirus pandemic. Austin FC spent $240 million to build their new stadium and it will have a capacity of 20,500 when they get cleared by the health authorities to let people in at full capacity amid the pandemic.

Columbus Crew

The 2020 MLS Cup winners announced in 2019 that they were going to build a new stadium for the 2021 season. The Crew was able to lift their second trophy in their history at the MAPFRE Stadium that was built in 1998. For this upcoming season they will move to a stadium located at the Ohio Expo Center and State Fairgrounds in Northwest Columbus that will have a capacity for 20,000 fans and the total cost was $232 million to build.
