Enrique Facussé eligible for MLS SuperDraft

The Major League Soccer SuperDraft will take place on 21 January and the new expansion club Austin FC will have the No 1 overall pick. Players eligible for the selection in this draft will include college seniors, generation adidas players and players who waived their college eligibility by signing to play in domestic professional leagues since the end of the 2019 college soccer season.

Once the draft is over, some players will join their respective MLS teams for the 2021 preseason and some will decide to compete for their college before reporting to their MLS clubs in late May. There are 176 eligible players for this year's draft and Enrique Facussé is one of them.

The goalkeeper from Honduras has completed his four years with the Kentucky Wildcats and has caught the attention of several clubs in Major League Soccer. The 22-year-old goalkeeper was even called up for the under-23 Honduras national team for the 2019 Pan American games and will be part of the pre-olympic tournament.

Facussé was born and raised in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and moved to the United States with his family in 2017. He then became the starting goalkeeper for the University of Kentucky and in his first year won the Golden Glove award and the student of the year award.

Setting records

In 2018, the goalkeeper from Honduras established a record with the Kentucky Wildcats with 14 consecutive clean sheets. That year his college team ended up in fifth place overall in the NCAA and due to his great performances he was called up to the national team, where he won the silver medal in the 2019 Pan American games.
