Qatar 2022: Short distances between stadiums will ensure unique World Cup experience

Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy has revealed information on the longest and shortest distances between the World Cup stadiums and the city of Doha, which serves as the starting point for travel to the eight venues for the Qatar World Cup in 2022.

Never in the modern history of the World Cup has the distance between the stadiums been so short. The distance between the city of Doha and farthest away World Cup stadium is 46km, while the closest is just is 7km from the capital.

The proximity between the stadiums will contribute to providing a more comfortable experience for the fans at Qatar 2022, which according to preliminary estimates will number one million.

Qatar’s efforts to lay world-class roads will facilitate access to the eight World Cup venues. New Qatari roads built over the last two years have facilitated access to the stadiums already inaugurated, which are Al Khalifa International, Al Janoub, Education City, and Ahmed Bin Ali.

There is also the subway that connects the stadiums with the capital, which will help to encourage fans to live the experience of attending more than one match a day, especially during the group round, when four games will be played daily.

The Doha Metro has provided distinguished services since it was officially inaugurated in May 2019, especially during the football tournaments that have been hosted in Qatar since its opening, such as the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup, and the final of the Emir of Qatar Cup on December 18 at the Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium.
