Golden Globe award 2021: Who are the nominees this year?

The shortlists for the 2021 Golden Globes have been released and it’s a record-breaking year with three women nominated for best director. Previously there had never been more than one woman nominated in any single year, and only five in the 77-year history of the Golden Globes.

Expected to pick up awards are David Fincher’s Herman J. Mankiewicz biopic ‘Mank’, which has picked up six nominations in total, and Aaron Sorkin’s historical drama ‘The Trial of the Chicago 7’. In the TV categories British drama ‘The Crown’ leads the way with six nominations, while comedy series ‘Schitt’s Creek’ picks up five.

There was also a posthumous nomination for Chadwick Boseman, the actor who died last year aged 43 after a private battle with cancer, who was noted for his role in the Netflix film "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.

The Golden Globes will take place on Sunday 28 February on NBC, with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to host the ceremony for the fourth time.
