Sevilla vs Barcelona live online: Copa del Rey semi-final first leg

One of the most interesting games in Spain will be played this Wednesday as Sevilla will host Barcelona at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final.

Both teams go into the match in good form, as the Andalusian team have won their last seven games in all competitions, six of those without conceding, while Barça have emerged victorious in their last six matches.

Barça's run of results

The Catalan side have suffered until the very end to get some of their wins. Against underdogs Cornellà in the Spanish Cup, they needed extra-time to advance to the next round. In LaLiga, Ronald Koeman’s men picked up three points against Real Betis, also in Seville, after a late strike from Francisco Trincao in the 87th minute.

Both teams are also in the top positions in LaLiga, with Barcelona sitting second with 43 points, tied with Real Madrid and Sevilla in fourth place on 42.

In-form Sevilla, a real threat

Sevilla, meanwhile, beat Leganés, Valencia and Almería to get to this stage of the competition. ‘Los Hispaleneses’ will be a dangerous opponent for the visitors, as they have won the Copa del Rey on five previous occasions, including three times in the past 11 years.

They will also be motivated to defeat Barcelona, since they haven’t been able to win in their last five meetings against the Blaugrana.

Rakitic, back against his former team

Sevilla will be able to call upon former Barça midfielder Ivan Rakitic, who will be back after suspension.

Diego Carlos and Jules Koundé should start in defence for the hosts, while Suso and En-Nesyri could be in the attacking with the absense of Ocampos through injury.

Koeman's headaches in defence intensify

As for Barcelona, who are looking for their 31st cup trophy in a season where LaLiga and the Champions League seem to be quite difficult challenges, they will be without Uruguayan defender Ronald Araújo, due to an ankle sprain.

Koeman has to deal with other unavailable players. Sergi Roberto is back on the sidelines and Sergiño Dest will miss the match, Coutinho and Ansu Fati are long-term absentees with knee injuries.

Samuel Umtiti, Óscar Mingueza, Clément Lenglet and Jordi Alba could be Barcelona’s defence, while Sergio Busquets will likely join Frenkie de Jong in midfield. In the attack, as usual, all eyes will be on Lionel Messi, who could partner Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembélé.
