“I am the best Mexican basketballer in the world” - Juan Toscano-Anderson

Juan Toscano-Anderson is a 6-foot-6 basketball player who is currently seeing minutes with the Golden States Warriors in the NBA. During this season, he has played as a small forward, power forward and as a center proving to be a utility man for the Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.

“It’s almost like a ‘mini’ version of Draymond Green,” said Kerr last week.

Seeking a guaranteed contract with a NBA team

He has worked his way up with the Warriors, but Toscano-Anderson is under a two-way contract which means he is an NBA/G League Hybrid. His goal is to get a guaranteed contract with the Bay Area team, but he is open to listen to offers from other franchises in the NBA.

“That is the next step for me, is to get a contract,” he said on Monday prior to the game against the Cavaliers. “I am the best Mexican basketballer in the world.”

Since the American-Mexican player is under a two-way contract this season, his salary is $450,000 and he is limited to 50 NBA games this year. Kerr is vouching for the 28-year-old, because he believes he should get the contract that he is seeking so he can stay and play many years in the league.

Due to James Wiseman and Kevon Looney’s injuries, Toscano-Anderson has seen a lot of minutes in the Warriors’ last seven games. Out of his seven appearances, he has started in six of them with an average of 9.7 points, 51.8% shooting, 6.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per match.
