REAL MADRID

Haaland and Mbappé would cost Real Madrid €852 million

Between transfer fees and salaries, the two biggest stars of the modern era would cost Spanish champions Real Madrid almost €1 billion across six seasons.

Update:
Haaland and Mbappé would cost Real Madrid €852 million

Real Madrid have been linked with both PSG'S Kylian Mbappé (22) and Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland (20), the two football stars of the present and future. PSG's intention is to offer the Frenchman the same salary as Neymar - €36 million net per season, which works out at €72 million gross for the Ligue 1 champions.

In England,cross-city rivals Manchester City and Manchester United are reportedly willing to offer the son of former City player, Alf-Inge Haaland, €90 million gross for five years or €18 million per season (€9 million net). Madrid would need to pay €10 million net to convince the young forward, who is represented by super-agent Mino Raiola.

Madrid, who dream of bringing the two together at the new Santiago Bernabéu stadium, are aware of the fees involved in purchasing the biggest names of the modern era. In salaries alone, both players would cost Los Blancos €92 million per year. At present, the club's total salary expenses, that of its 800 employees, stands at €448 million.

Signing both players together is a real challenge in the middle of a pandemic, due to the club's current losses and the redevelopment of their Santiago Bernabéu stadium. Selling Gareth Bale, and possibly Eden Hazard, who both earn €30 million gross per year would be a financial boost to the club with one eye on future transfers. The return of fans to the Spanish capital would also see a large increase in club revenue.

Six-year deals

On top of the €92 million for the two salaries of Mbappé and Haaland, Madrid have to take into account the selling fee that PSG and Dortmund will place on their star players. Following estimates that each forward could cost €150 million and that they sign on six-year deals, they would both cost €142 million per season for six seasons.

Signing Mbappé and Haaland this summer for the next six years requires an investment of €852 million: €300 million (the transfer fees), plus the €432 million for Mbappé's salary (€72 million a year for six years) and €120 million for the Norwegian's salary (€20 million per year across six seasons).
