All the available content for Season 2 of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone on PS5, PS4, Xbox and PC.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone have released details of the content that we will see in Season 2, which is expected to drop on Thursday, 25 February. It incurs no extra cost for PS5, PS4, Xbox series X|S, Xbox One and PC. Multiplayer, Zombies and Battle Royal will receive a huge round of additions in the new season.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War: 6 new weapons, game modes & maps
The new Cold War content transports you to the jungle in Laos, where the lead group (headed up by Frank Woods) will look for clues on the whereabouts of Adler. In the middle of the search they run into Naga, an accomplice of Stitch, who’s part of Perseus’ cell. The agent behind the scarf and sunglasses will be one of the four operators who land in the game, joining Maxis, Rivas and Wolf – the latter two as seasonal reinforcements.
Six new weapons will be introduced; first is the Fara 83, an automatic assault rifle which inevitably brings back memories of the legendary Galil. The second new weapon in the armoury is the subfusil LC10, dedicated to fill the necessity for a weapon that performs well in shootouts at close and short range.
Both new weapons will be automatically unlocked upon reaching levels 15 and 31 of the battle pass, respectively. Remember that they form part of the free route.
The rest of the weapons are divided between body-to-body and ballistics, which will arrive throughout the season. You will be able to kill your enemies with a machete or folding shovel. Later on, the RE Shadowhunter will debut, which does the job of a traditional crossbow. Finally, there’s the ZRG 20mm, a sniper rifle “with the fastest bullet speed and reload in its class.”
These four weapons will be unlocked by completing challenges, or if you buy a package from the in game shop.
Focusing on the maps, four will show the available playing zones. From release day, you’ll only see ‘Apocalypse’. With the classic 6vs6 mode in mind, it will take us to the remote Laotian jungle via a mix of temples, forest and administrative buildings. The remaining three will debut a while later; two in confrontation mode (Mansion and Golova) and the other for casual competitive, Miami Strike.
The game modes to first see the light of day in Black Ops Cold War are a mix between old favourites and some interesting twists. Weapons mode; all versus all will no doubt be a big part of launch week. You have to advance through a set of pre-established 20 weapons. Then there’s Stockpile, which mixes Kill Confirmed with Hardpoint where you’ll need to collect enemy badges, where they’ll be stored in your inventory until you deposit them in the correct zone, which are constantly changing position. Finally, there’s the possibility of playing Hardpoint in multiplayer – in other words 10 teams go head to head to win over territories.
Along with all these new toys to play with, there will also be two new vehicles – Sedan and light truck, and the “death machine.”
Also from launch week, we’ll see a “new experience” related to zombies. It’s called Outbreak, and will see you participate in “large scale battles” in a map located in the Ural Mountains. Dozens of players will get the chance to fight before hordes of enemies in a map that looks to be far more open that anything seen up to this point.
Call of Duty Warzone: the boat Vodianoy edges closer
Raven Software have yet to release all the details of the changes that will be made to Battle Royale’s map. What we do know, however is that the Vodianoy, the ship stationed at Rebirth Island will head to Verdansk full of Nova-6.
In the small paragraph they shared, the studio said “to all the operators in the surroundings, extreme caution is recommended” in reference to nearing the ship. They teased “something big is starting to rumble deep underground.”
There will also be two new games modes released; Exfiltration and Rebirth Island Resurgence Extreme. The first comes into play later on, while the second will be available from the first few days.
