Major League Soccer announced the 2021 season home openers

Major League Soccer’s 26th season is ready to start and on Wednesday the league announced the first part of the schedule that will kick-off the campaign.

Major League Soccer is celebrating their 26th season in 2021. This year there will be a total of 27 franchises with Austin FC making their debut on 17 April against the CONCACAF Champions League finalists Los Angeles FC. This game will be played at the Banc of California stadium as part of a 13-match opening weekend.

Canadian teams to play in Florida

During the 2021 MLS home opening week, the Canadian franchises will travel to Florida to play their home matches due to the coronavirus restrictions between the United States and Canada. That is why Montréal and Toronto will play on 17 April at the Inter Miami CF stadium.

While the Los Angeles Galaxy, five times MLS Cup champions, will have their home opener until 25 April when they host New York Red Bulls at the Dignity Health Sports Park. In their season opening game the Galaxy will visit Inter Miami CF on 17 April. Full dates of the 2021 MLS regular season schedule will be announced in the coming weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic.

New Stadiums

For the 2021 MLS season there will be three world-class stadiums. Austin will open the doors of the Q2 stadium to host San Jose Earthquakes on 19 June. Then FC Cincinnati will debut the West End stadium on 16 May when they host Inter Miami CF and defending MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew SC, will start the season at home at the Historic Crew Stadium, which will be ready this summer.
