Two US stars in Championship promotion playoffs
Daryl Dike (Barnsley) and Cameron Carter-Vickers (Bournemouth) have led their respective teams to the promotion playoffs that are set to start week beginning 17 May.
The dates have been confirmed for the EFL Championship playoff and they will start the week beginning 17 May. There are still two games left of the 2020/21 regular season but the first six teams have already secured a spot for the playoffs. The teams that have already secured their spots regardless of what happens in the last two games are Norwich City in first place with 93 points and Watford in second place with 88.
Two Americans to participate in the play-offs
Daryl Dike has become one of the biggest stars in the Championship since arriving on loan on 1 February from Orlando City SC. The 20-year-old striker has scored 9 goals in 17 appearances with Barnsley FC and he has awoken the interest of several clubs in the Premier League, such as Evertonn and Chelsea.
“We’ve worked so hard for this! We don’t stop now! Playoff bound baby,” wrote Dike in his Twitter account after his team secured a spot in the promotion playoffs. The Tykes defeated Rotherham 1-0 on Saturday after Carlton Morris scored with 2 minutes into the match. Barnsley FC will finish the season by visiting Preston on 1 May and then hosting Norwich City on 8 May.
Also Center back Cameron Carter-Vickers from Bournemouth has secured a spot in the promotion playoffs this season. The United States men’s international player has made 19 league appearances this year and scored once. The Cherries lost their seven-game winning run after losing to Brentford 1-0 on matchday 44 on 24 April.
