Loki series in Disney+: how many episodes will it have and what are the date of release?
Marvel’s favorite villain that fans love to hate is starring in his own series on Disney+. The mercurial Loki promises to be good, if you can believe that.
Marvel fans are in for a treat as the Marvel Comic Universe on TV will expand with Loki resurrected, in a sense, for viewers enjoyment. New episodes of the God of Mischief will stream every Wednesday on Disney+. Here’s when you can watch the six episodes.
“Loki” plot: to fix a problem he created
Loki, died at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, but that isn’t the first time he’s been put down only to comeback again. However, the Loki in the new series named for the Marvel character is a variant of himself from an earlier timeline. The crux of why, escaping from captivity in Avengers: Endgame when Ant-Man, Captain America, and Iron Man travel back in time to recover the Infinity Stone in the Tesseract, but instead Loki gets his hand, well feet, on it aiding his escape, provides the premise of the show.
His Houdini trick causes chaos, par for course for the mischievous Loki, in the normal timeline of the universe which the TVA puts him to work to fix. The TVA, which is known as the Time Variance Authority in Marvel comics, is an organization responsible for monitoring timelines. The authority wants Loki to turn over a new leaf, but as Mobius M. Mobius his case officer points out, Loki is a compulsive liar and really likes to stab people in the back. To which Loki responds "Well, I'll never do it again."
Cast and Crew
Tom Hiddleston who played the role of Loki in the Marvel Comic Universe franchise of films will reprise the role of Loki once more. His Time Variance Authority case officer Mobius M. Mobius will be played by Owen Wilson. The duo appears to have good chemistry which should make the show entertaining. Rounding out the cast are fellow actors Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku and Richard E. Grant.
The series written by Michael Waldron is directed by Kate Herron who will also serve as Executive Producer alongside Hiddleston and Waldron. Additional Executive producers include Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, Louis D'Esposito, Victoria Alonso and Stephen Broussard.
Release dates
To avoid stepping on the toes of The Bad Batch, which already claimed the Friday slot for dropping, new episodes of Loki will instead be made available on Wednesdays.
