LA Coliseum set to be at full capacity for Mexico-Nigeria

The state of California has officially reopened starting 15 June and Gov. Gavin Newsome announced the lift of most covid-19 restrictions that were established last year during the pandemic. “California has turned the page. Let us celebrate this remarkable milestone,” said Newsome on Tuesday.

Stadiums at full capacity

This also means that stadiums can be filled at their full capacity starting 15 June and the organizers of the exhibition match between the Mexico national team and Nigeria announced that the stadium will be open at full capacity on 3 July. The warm-up match prior to the start of the 2020 CONCACAF Gold Cup will be played at the LA Coliseum that has a capacity of around 78 thousand people.

The match between Mexico and Nigeria at the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum will be sold at full capacity, with no seating restrictions,” read the statement from the organizers (Mextour).

This will be Mexico’s second friendly game at a stadium that is at its maximum capacity, because last weekend they played Honduras at the Mercedes-Benz venue in Atlanta with a sold out crowd. That game “is believed to be the largest soccer crowd in the world since the start of the pandemic.”

The last time ‘El Tri’ played at the LA Coliseum was during the 2019 Gold Cup. Now for the exhibition game against Nigeria the organizers recommend fans to pre-register for future ticket information and the opportunity to purchase them.
