Manny Pacquiao vs Yordenis Ugás tickets: cost, where to buy
Manny Pacquiao and Yordenis Ugás face off on 21 August in a Las Vegas fight dubbed 'The Show Must Go On', after Pacquiao's original opponent, Errol Spence Jr, was forced to pull out.
Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao is to take on Cuban Yordenis Ugás at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena on 21 August, in a WBA ‘super’ welterweight title fight that has been billed as ‘The Show Must Go On’.
Ugás replaces injured Spence Jr in Las Vegas
Pacquiao, who has won major world championships in eight different weight divisions, was due to challenge Errol Spence Jr for the American’s WBC and IBF welterweight titles, but Spence Jr has been forced to pull out of the bout because of a torn retina in his right eye.
Ugás was scheduled to fight Argentine Fabián Maidan on the same day, but has now stepped in for Spence Jr after Maidana suffered an injury in a sparring session and had to withdraw.
Pacquiao out to reclaim title he was stripped of earlier this year
Pacquiao, who now serves as a senator in his native Philippines, has not fought since earning a July 2019 split-decision win over American Keith Thurman, which landed him the WBA ‘super’ welterweight title.
In January, the WBA stripped him of the belt due to inactivity and handed it to Ugás, who had won the regular WBA welterweight title by beating the US’ Abel Ramos in September 2020.
Pacquiao, 42, has a professional boxing record of 62 wins (39 of which by knockout), seven losses and two draws, while Ugás, 35, has 26 victories (12 by knockout) and four defeats.
