Top ten NFL games to watch in the 2021-22 season

The long-awaited regular season is finally almost here, and there are a lot of exciting games to watch this season. Last year was a strange one with the pandemic resulting in no preseason and few fans in the stadiums. This year, there’s been a lot of changes. For example, this year will be the NFL’s first 17-game season, which has all of us fantasy football managers confused, but excited.

The regular season will begin September 10, post season January 15 and the Super Bowl LVI will be held on February 13, 2022, which will be the latest Super Bowl ever.

So without further ado, here are the top ten games that are worth watching in the 2021-22 regular NFL season:

The regular season kicks off with Dak Prescott’s return against Tom Brady and the defending Super Bowl champs. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has dubbed the game “David vs. Goliath”. I might be biased, but I have a little more faith in Dak and the boys to put up a good fight. Plus TB head coach Bruce Arians has openly expressed his displeasure with the team’s performance at training camp, especially in the second half, and the Cowboys can be a comeback team. It should be a good matchup to start off the season.

2. Kansas City Chiefs at Baltimore Ravens - Sept. 19

Who doesn’t love watching Pat Mahomes play? Put him up against the Ravens with Lamar Jackson and it’s bound to be an exciting QB matchup. Plus Jackson has former Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins at his disposal this season. I predict a close game with both teams playing hard.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Los Angeles Rams - Sept. 26

Obviously, the Super Bowl champs will be an exciting team to watch no matter what, but don’t expect this game to be a beating. The Rams now have Matthew Stafford on offense, and even better, Aaron Donald is healthy again and ready to make Brady’s life difficult.

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New England Patriots - Oct. 3

Oh, man. This is going to be a fun one to watch! A sort of revenge game for Belichick, I think we can expect to see some clever defensive tricks to keep Brady on his toes. Equally, Brady will likely be determined to win against his former team at their first meeting after playing with them for 20 years. It should be a thrilling watch.

5. Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs - Oct. 10

Remember when the Bills lost to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game last season? Bills head coach Sean McDermott is likely to want a rematch, especially after coming off a 13-3 season. I am not convinced the Bills defense can hold off Mahomes. Not to mention, the Chiefs only improved their offensive line this offseason.

6. Detroit Lions at Los Angeles Rams - Oct. 24

Well, this should be interesting! We have Jared Goff going up against his former Rams team and Matt Stafford going up against the Lions team he played with for over a decade. I wouldn’t expect a close game, but it should be a good time watching these two quarterbacks play against each other’s former teams. Otherwise. I expect a Rams beating.

7. Green Bay Packers at Kansas City Chiefs - Nov. 7

Yes, Chiefs again…but against Greenbay and Aaron Rodgers! This is a matchup we’ve been waiting for between Mahomes and Rodgers. In 2019, Mahomes was out with a knee injury, so we didn’t get the satisfaction. Now is the time (assuming there are no injuries this year).

8. Buffalo Bills at New Orleans Saints - Nov. 25

Well, it’s Thanksgiving, so football is always a big part of the day. But now there’s no Drew Brees for the Saints in this matchup. Whether we see Jameis Winston or Taysom Hill starting, I expect the Bills offense to outperform the Saints.

9. Green Bay Packers at Baltimore Ravens - Dec. 19

Another fun battle of the quarterbacks, this game we’ll see two recent MVPs with very different playing styles competing against each other. Ravens offense consists of Rashod Bateman, Marquise Brown, and Sammy Watkins, and I don’t expect they’ll go easy on Greenbay. I predict a close and hard-fought game by both teams.

10. Jacksonville Jaguars at New York Jets - Dec. 26

It’s hard not to laugh a little bit at the Jets for losing the number one draft pick for a couple wins that meant nothing at the end of the season. So the Jags picked Trevor Lawrence at number one and Jets selected Zach Wilson as the second. In this game, we’ll get to see who outplays who. Lawrence has the benefit of a more established secondary and talent to work with.
