NFL star Aaron Rodgers has been the Green Bay Packers’ quarterback since 2005, and his fame as a player for the successful football squad has placed his private life under scrutiny as well.

His celebrity status has been further enhanced by relationships with several high-profile women including his fiancée, actress Shailene Woodley, star of the TV series Big Little Lies.

He has been romantically linked in the past to actresses Olivia Munn and Jessica Szohr, as well as race car driver Danica Patrick.

Earlier this year, his engagement to Woodley was announced, and since marriage usually ends up being a family matter, this aspect of his life was also brought to the fore.

Aaron Rodgers: estranged from his family

Rodgers is a middle child with two brothers- Luke, the oldest, and Jordan, the youngest, and according to family members who have come out in the media, Aaron is not at all close to his family.

The rift between them became public knowledge after Jordan- also a former football quarterback- appeared as a contestant on the reality show “The Bachelorette” in 2016. He revealed that he and his family hadn’t been speaking to Aaron.

Their father Ed also later confirmed that he hadn’t been on speaking terms with his son. He hinted that his son’s rise in popularity may have contributed to their problems, saying in an interview with The New York Times that “fame can change things”.

Aaron has acknowledged the strained relations, but refuses to talk about the details in public.

The Rodgers on religion

One possible reason that celebrity magazines have cited for the rift is differing views on religion. Aaron had spoken out about his issues with organized religion in public, saying that its “rules and regulations and binary systems don’t really resonate” with him.

His family on the other hand is dedicated to their Christian faith, with Jordan saying he “trusts that God brings things full circle” for them to get back to "being a family".
