Lukaku ready to finish unfinished business with Chelsea
Ten years ago, Romelu Lukaku joined Chelsea as a teenager. On Sunday, the now 28-year-old will start with the team again as a “totally different player”.
Since his start with Chelsea ten years ago, striker Romelu Lukaku has been through a lot of changes and developed a lot as a player. As an 18-year-old with Chelsea, he failed to score in 15 appearances. In 2014, he joined Everton before eventually moving to Inter Milan in 2019 via Manchester United. There, Lukaku had two impressive years. He scored 24 goals in Serie A, helping Inter win the Italian title, their first in 11 years.
Lukaku to start with Chelsea again
Lukaku had previously made statements saying he would stay at San Siro for the 2021-22 season, but once Chelsea made their interest clear, Lukaku had a change of heart. He said that the opportunity to play with Chelsea is “the chance of a lifetime.”
On Tuesday, Lukaku trained with the team after having missed the first game against Crystal Palace due to a quarantine period upon arriving from Italy. Coach Tuchel has said he is ready to put the “number one striker” on the field as soon as possible.
The Blues play Arsenal on Sunday at 5:30pm CEST.
