Real Madrid vs Celta Vigo: how and where to watch - times, TV, online

Los Blancos will play in front of fans at the Bernabéu for the first since before the start of the pandemic, and Ancelotti’s men will no doubt be eager to put on a show in the new-look stadium.

"It is a very special day for all Madridistas, also for us because we return to our stadium. It is a stadium that has always helped the team, it is a very special day and we have to close it with a good game,” said Ancelotti at a Saturday's press conference.

“We have to play well, put on a good show and, most importantly, get all three points.”

New signing Eduardo Camavinga has been included in the squad and the Bernabéu faithful will be hoping to see the young Frenchman play some part against Celta.

Bale ruled out of Madrid-Vigo clash

Gareth Bale, meanwhile, has had to pull out at the last minute after picking up a hamstring injury at training on Saturday. Ancelotti will also be without the injured Toni Kroos and Dani Ceballos, but still has a strong squad to choose from for Sunday’s fixture, which comes three days ahead of Los Blancos’ Champions League opener away to Inter Milan on Wednesday.

Question marks hang over the readiness of Madrid’s returning South American internationals to start, after all four made the long trip back to the Spanish capital just in time for Friday’s training session following international duty with Brazil (Militao, Vinicius, Casemiro) and Uruguay (Fede Valverde).

“They have no problem playing,” said Ancelotti. “I will talk to them and if any of them are tired, they will not play. But they haven't had problems and it seems that the recovery after the trip has been good.”

Real Marid have not lost any of their last 14 meetings with Celta in LaLiga (winning 12 and drawing two), with their last defeat (2-0) against the Galician club coming in the penultimate game of the 2013-14 season at the Estadio de Balaídos, incidentally, during Ancelotti’s first tenure at the club.

While Madrid have two and drawn one of their three opening LaLiga fixtures, Celta have had opposing fortunes and are yet to chalk up a victory, with two losses and one draw seeing them languish in 18th place ahead of Sunday’s fixture. Real Madrid go into the game having remained unbeaten in their last 21 LaLiga games (winning 15, drawing six), which is the current longest streak of any team in the league. Few, if any, would tip a struggling Celta to end that run on Sunday.
