Real Madrid lead this year's Champions League bonuses

This year, UEFA will distribute a total of 600M euros in prize money, including coefficient-based shares with Madrid earning 51.4M before they've even started.

The Champions League will once again be distributing million of euros in prize money among the clubs taking part. Under the pressure from clubs who are keen to bring in more money to make up for lost revenue during the pandemic added to the threat of the Super League, UEFA will be more generous in dishing out cash this year. Clubs will earn 2.8 million euros for every victory in the tournament and 930,000 euros for every draw.

Just for taking part in the group stage will earn clubs 15.64 million euros in starting fees. Those who reach the Last 16 will be rewarded with 9.6 million euros in prize money, 10.6 million for making it to the quarter finals, 12.5 million for getting as far as the semi-finals and 15.5 million euros will go to each of the finalists with the winner earning an extra 4.5 million. It means that it is possible for one club to amass a total of 85.1 million euros in prize money if they end up being crowned champions in Saint Petersburg next May - compared to the 82.5 million which last year's winners collected.

On top of that, there are also earnings from the television market pool and for a club's position in the UEFA coefficient ranking, one of the new features this year. Coefficient-based fees will be determined by a club's performances over the past 10 years. UEFA will distribute a total of 600.6 million euros in shares, with each share valued at 1.137 million euros. Real Madrid lead the pack in that area with 51.4 million euros. Bayern are second with 50.3 million are Barcelona are third with 49.2 million.

Revenue from television rights

As for the market pool, UEFA will handing out an estimated total of 300.3 million euros. The criteria is based "the proportional value of each TV market represented by participating clubs" - in other words, how much interest in terms of television audience each team generates in their country. There is also another component which is determined by the position which a club finished their domestic league in the previous campaign.
