Odell Beckham Jr. will play no part in the Cleveland Browns' Week 2 game against the Houston Texans on Sunday.

Browns coach Stefanski makes early decision on Beckham

The star wide receiver is continuing to work his way back from a left knee injury but, after he was a game-time decision ahead of the Browns' Week 1 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, head coach Kevin Stefanski opted to rule him out early this week for the sake of the clarity of their gameplan.

Beckham will continue practicing on a limited basis as he attempts to recover in time for the Browns' Week 3 meeting with the Chicago Bears.

"He was pushing to get there, just didn't feel like he could play a significant number of snaps," Stefanski said of Beckham's absence against the Texans.

"I just felt like this for this week, the prudent thing to do was let those other [receivers] get all those reps and let's game plan accordingly.

"With Odell, we're just going to make sure that we continue to be smart about it and listen to him – he knows his body better than anybody.

"And then we'll make the decision that's right for him and the team."

Beckham had surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered in Week 7 last season. The three-time Pro Bowler caught 23 passes for 319 yards and three touchdowns in his seven games.
