CONCACAF approves the alliance between MLS and Liga MX
It is expected that the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football confirm the news after the League Cup final.
Since Major League Soccer announced that the 2021 All-Star game will be played against the best players from Liga MX, it has been rumored that both leagues will become one in the near future. It seems that the announcement will come sooner rather than later because according to Mediotiempo as CONCACAF has approved the alliance between both leagues.
This will benefit MLS and Liga MX
According to the reports, Major League Soccer and Liga MX will create the ‘Liga Norteramericana’ in 2023, but this doesn’t mean that both leagues will merge. It means that on top of the ‘Campeón de Campeones’ Cup, the Leagues Cup and All-Star game, they will create a new tournament.
It is expected that the official announcement will be made tomorrow prior to the Leagues Cup final between Club León and Seattle Sounders at the Allegiant stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. Also the Canadian teams that play in Major League Soccer will be included in this new tournament.
