Lionel Messi and Pep Guardiola will meet each other once again as PSG welcome Manchester City to Paris on Tuesday.

City travel to the French capital for their Group A clash with the Ligue 1 outfit after thumping RB Leipzig 6-3 in the first round of matches in this year's Champions League.

Guardiola and Messi at Barcelona

Guardiola managed Messi for four seasons at Barcelona from 2008 to 2012. The club won 14 titles during that time, including three La Liga titles and two Champions League titles. The formidable pair also achieved the Sextuple in 2009, winning every competition they played in over the 2008/09 campaign.

Under Guardiola's stewardship, Messi played 47 Champions League matches, scoring an impressive 43 goals and winning 28 matches along the way. Barça drew 15 matches and only lost four of the 47 European fixtures.

Since Pep Guardiola left the Catalan club, Messi has played against a Guardiola team on four occasions in the Champions League, twice against Bayern Munich and twice against his current club Manchester City. Pep worked at the Bundesliga giants from 2013 to 2016, before joining City in the same year.

Messi and Guardiola have two wins apiece in four matches against each other in Europe. PSG drew their opening game against Club Brugge in Group A and will be hoping to get their first win on the board. Messi has been included in the PSG squad for the mouth-watering clash after missing the French side's 2-0 win over Montpellier at the weekend due to bone bruising on his left knee after a collision during last week’s win against Lyon.
