Real Madrid can spend 7 times more than Barcelona on player salaries
Los Blancos have €739 million to pay their players, while the Catalan club have lost almost €285 million in their salary cap, placing them seventh.
Clubs from the Spanish top division have been handed their new limits for the maximum amount they can spend on the cost of their squads. This includes payments to players, as well as to the coaching staff, youth teams, and other employees across the club for the full season.
After the close of the transfer market, the employers' association readjusted the accounts of the clubs and collectively they will be able to spend a maximum of 2,277 million euros. This amount is higher than a year ago, for one reason in particular: the long-awaited return of fans to the stadiums.

Real Madrid remains for the second consecutive year as the team with the highest salary cap (€739.16 million) and they have demonstrated their economic muscle by increasing it by almost 270 million compared to the previous season. LaLiga president Javier Tebas has, on numerous occasions, praised the financial management of Los Blancos and has even stated that the capital club has the capacity to make blockbuster signings in Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland at the same time. Barcelona, on the other hand, have seen their much-documented economic issues push them well down on where they have been for many years, battling it out with their Madrid rivals.
The Catalan club has been listed as seventh in LaLiga in terms of allocating money to the squad at €97.94 million, which is €284.77 million less than last season. Between the two giants sit Sevilla (€200.39m), Atlético Madrid (€171.60m), Villarreal (€159.29m), Real Sociedad (€127.70m) and Athletic Club (€111.81m). The fall of the blaugrana is so remarkable that Madrid has seven times their spending limit.

Of the 20 teams that make up the Primera División, seven (Atlético, Athletic, Barcelona, Betis, Granada, Levante and Valencia) have a lower cap this year when compared to last. Valencia, for all their success, are the lowest ranked, on just €30.98 million. Levante (€32.10m), Elche (€41.52m) and Rayo (€41.82m) follow at the lower levels.
