Mundo Deportivo report that Jorge Mendes, Ansu Fati's agent, has a new contract offer on the table for the Barcelona player. The proposal was made by the La Liga club three weeks ago and Mendes, who is in Qatar, will will sit down with Mateu Alemany on his return to discuss the offer.

Short-term deal for Fati

Barcelona will not be able to offer their new number 10 a long-term contract. Owing to the club's current financial problems, Fati has been offered a short-term deal with the option of extending it as the club's debt reduces. Cadena Cope have reported that Barça have a salary limit of €97 million, much lower than their budget of previous seasons.

Fati coming towards the end of current deal

Ansu Fati has a contract until June 2022. Barça signed a unilateral extension clause until 2024, but the validity of this clause is in question as a player under 18 cannot sign a contract of more than two years. Barcelona believe they could win the case, but do not want to get into that situation and therefore are trying to resolve the contract extension first.

The player, according to various reports, has given the go ahead to Mendes to reach an agreement with Barcelona. The last meeting between the parties took place on 15 September and both sides came away with the idea that Fati will extend his stay at the club that gave him his debut at just 16 years of age.
