LAFC will start their playoff run against Portland Timbers
Los Angeles Football Club can’t give up any points with eight games left of the regular season if they want to book their ticket to the playoffs.
Los Angeles FC will try to bounce back tonight against Portland Timbers at the Banc of California stadium after losing their last two games. LAFC has no room for mistakes because they only have eight games left of the regular season to book their ticket to the 2021 MLS Cup playoffs.
“We need to start finishing because we had some chances against the Portland Timbers and we haven’t been able to score. That has been the story of our season because we create chances, but we can’t find the back of the net. We know we are a tough team to play against, but we have not found the right way to finish off games,” said LAFC coach Bob Bradley.
LAFC’s road to the playoffs
The ‘Black & Gold’ have four home games and four away games left in the campaign and they still have a lot to play for. Currently they are in eight place and a win tonight will put them in the playoffs picture in the Western Conference.
“We have been talking about it for a few weeks now and every game is a playoff-type game. There is a lot on the line and they are going to be six-point type games. So certainly there is a strong understanding of what every match will be about and we need to have the mentality necessary to win these games,” added Bradley.
After Portland, LAFC will go on the road to face the Los Angeles Galaxy (3 October) in the second derby of the season. Then they will return home to play against San Jose Earthquakes (16 October) and then play away against FC Dallas (20 October). The team from Los Angeles will then play against Minnesota, Seattle, Vancouver and Colorado.
