Tom Brady posts career highlight video before facing his old team

The seven-time Super Bowl winner, quarterback Tom Brady, returns to Foxborough to play his old team for the first time since leaving the Patriots in 2019.

Tom Brady posts career highlight video before facing his old team

Quarterback Tom Brady spent 20 years playing for the New England Patriots and he brought them the Super Bowl title six times. At the end of the season in 2019, he announced he was leaving the team and would play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Unsurprisingly, in just his second year with the team, he took the Bucs to the Super Bowl, too - and won it.

Tom Brady's homecoming

Tonight, Brady returns to Gillette Stadium to face the Patriots from the opposing team for the first time since his departure. On Saturday, Brady posted an animated highlight reel of his career to his social media with one word: “Homecoming”. In the video, we see several historic moments from Brady’s career from where he started to his first Super Bowl, his three Super Bowl losses, Julian Edelman’s impressive catch against the Atlanta Falcons in the Super Bowl in 2017, and then finally, boarding a pirate ship and joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Brady knows this team and that stadium like the back of his hand. It will be a tough matchup for the Pats being up against Brady. "I know that home locker room. I know that home tunnel. I know which way the wind blows. I know everything about that,” Brady said. “So, in some ways it’ll be unique. I've never had that experience. New England will be the first time for me being on the other sideline.” The Patriots are aware they’ll be up against a quarterback who knows their defensive schemes, their tendencies, and has extensive knowledge of the organization. Coach Bill Belichick has said they don’t plan to change anything at the last minute because of that. “I don’t think it would be in our best interest to go in there and do everything differently than we've done it all year,” Belichick said. “What we need to do is continue to do the things we do and do them better. That would help us more than anything else.”

If the Bucs get a win, Brady would become the fourth quarterback to have a win against all 32 NFL teams, along with Brett Favre, Drew Brees, and Peyton Manning. Brady also needs just 68 more yards to surpass Drew Brees’ record of most passes in the regular season (80,358). Brady already has a long list of NFL records including most Super Bowl titles, most conference championships, most touchdown passes, and most wins as starting quarterback.
