Barcelona to receive financial backing in bid to sign Erling Haaland
The Norwegian striker is on the club's list of priority signings and Barça will receive investment to make the transfer possible, according to Sport.
Barcelona know it will be difficult, but not impossible, to sign Erling Haaland next year. The Norwegian striker, who will be priced at €75 million in the next summer transfer window, is one the Barcelona board's main priorities when it comes to new signings.
They see Haaland as the star player on which to build the future of the club. Borussia Dortmund's goalscoring machine would also be an inspiration and leader on and off the pitch for the promising crop of players coming through the first team from La Masia.
Investment for Dortmund striker
The Catalan club's financial situation complicates his signing, although there is a glimmer of hope. As reported by Sport, Barcelona have several proposals from investment funds to help with the signing, as they see the operation as viable and beneficial for the club. The salary limit will be the main obstacle to bringing Haaland in, who will demand a salary in line with his current salary.
Real Madrid and PSG in for Haaland
Barcelona have some advantages over competitors like Real Madrid and PSG, who are also after the striker. Barça club president Joan Laporta has an excellent relationship with Haaland's agent Mino Raiola. The super-agent has already met with Laporta about a possible transfer. At Barcelona, Haaland would be the centrepiece of the project, while at the Madrid and PSG he would be sharing a dressing room with some of the best players in the world, which would give him a lesser role.
