Christian Pulisic will not play against Newcastle United
The United States men’s national team player returned to practice this week, but after almost two months sidelined he needs to reach full fitness.
Christian Pulisic had a few setbacks on his road to recovery after hurting his ankle with the USMNT during the September international window. After almost two months, the United States international is back and he started the week doing individual fitness workouts.
Back to full training
The good news didn’t stop there, because on Thursday he practiced with the rest of the team for the first time since late August. After Friday’s training session the head coach of Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel, gave an update on Pulisic and confirmed that he will not play against Newcastle United this weekend.
“Christian Pulisic did join the last two training sessions but it’s early given the time he missed. Christian is looking forward to the Burnley match [on 6 November]. If everything goes right, he should be in the squad then and ready to play,” said Tuchel.
Maybe he has recovered just in time to join the United States men’s national team for the international break in November. The USMNT needs one of its best players since it will play against Mexico on 12 November and three days later against Jamaica.
