It’s 31 October and people all around the world will be dressing up to mark Halloween 2021 in a wide variety of weird and wonderful costumes. Last year the pandemic made trick or treating impossible and prevented the majority of themed events, but this year spooky soirées are back on the agenda.

While millions of Americans will be dressing up today the most impressive, and expensive, costumes are often found adorning some famous faces.

Here’s our run-down of some of the best celebrity Halloween costumes of 2021

Lizzo – Baby Yoda

Last year singer song-writer Lizzo stole the show on Halloween, dressing as the infamous fly that landed atop Vice President Mike Pence’s head during last October’s presidential debate. The 33-year-old has gone for another viral sensation this year with an impressively realistic Baby Yoda outfit, channelling the star of the Disney+ series The Mandalorian.

Harry Styles – Dorothy

The former star of One Direction has taken a detour down the yellow brick road for this year’s Halloween costume, copying the gingham drew and ponytails of Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. Styles has donned a dress in public numerous times in recent years and looked at home in the ensemble at one of his gigs.

Lil Nas X – The Basketball Guy, aka Seth Powers

Never one to shy away from the opportunity to rock some ‘out-there’ clothing choices, Lil Nas X’s Halloween looks are often notable. However this year he sent for a relatively paired-back outfit, going as The Basketball Guy, aka Seth Powers, from Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, the early 2000s Nickelodeon show.

Hayley Bieber – Britney Spears

Another to go for a topical costume was Hayley Bieber, who said her outfit was inspired by “the queen,” Britney Spears. Posting a series of photos to her Instagram, Bieber shows off a variety of Britney-inspired looks, just weeks after the pop star was in the news as details of her conservatorship emerged in the public consciousness.

LeBron James – Freddy Krueger

The NBA icon steps away from the family-friendly persona of Space Jam 2 to bring a bit of horror to Halloween. The 36-year-old dressed up as a frightfully realistic version of Freddy Kruger, the relentless killer from Wes Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street film series.
