Call of Duty: Vanguard - release date, trailers, modes, campaign, zombies...
Every CoD title is greeted with a huge amount of anticipation and with a new game mode and the return of Zombies, this World War II multiplayer is no exception.
The latest entry in the annual CoD series, Call of Duty: Vanguard, is set for release on 5 November and will boast a brand-new campaign with exciting new multiplayer and zombies modes.
From the trailers we can see that the game will be set in the World War II era with aircraft fights and battlefield warfare likely to play central roles in gameplay. Announcements from developers have also confirmed that the game will use the same next-gen engine first utilised in Modern Warfare in 2019.
The imminent release date will put in it direct competition with Battlefield 2042, the highly-anticipated title from DICE. With both titles going head-to-head for spots on gamers’ Christmas lists, here’s what to expect from Call of Duty: Vanguard.
New gameplay mode introduced for CoD: Vanguard
The new game brings back many of the familiar game modes which have been so popular in the past, while also introducing a new one: Champion Hill, which said to be a mix between Battle Royale and Team Deathmatch.
Free for All – The simplest game mode sees all players battle against the rest to be crowned the sole victor
Team Deathmatch – In this mode the players will be split onto opposing teams for the battle, continuing until one team hits the score limit
Domination – A more tactical mode, Domination requires players to capture designated spots on the game map to gain points
Kill Confirmed – Players must retrieve dog tags from fallen enemies to rack up scores in this game mode
Patrol – Similar to Domination, Patrol requires players to capture and hold moving zones to earn points
Hardpoint – One of the more surreal game modes available, players must secure a rotating target while defending it against enemy attacks
Search and Destroy – Another classic game mode sees teams alternate between defending and destroying an objective
Champion Hill – The latest addition sees eight teams of two or three players battle against rivals in a team death match spanning four maps, with the last team standing declared the victor
Zombies to be included in CoD: Vanguard
With just days to go before the game is released, we know that there is an exciting return for the always-popular Zombies element. The game’s campaign and multiplayer game modes have been developed by Sledgehammer Games, but the new Zombies mode has been left to Treyarch.
The Zombies trailer was first released on 14 October which suggested a darker, more demonic vibe. Zombies modes have been included in six of the last seven Call of Duty multiplayer titles, but Treyarch have confirmed that the main Zombies quest for Vanguard will not be available immediately, and is expected to follow the game’s release by at least a month.
