Real Madrid: Fiorentina plan raid for Odriozola, Mayoral and Jovic

The good relationship between Real Madrid and Fiorentina and the Bernabéu's desire for a clear out has the Serie A side eyeing deals for three players.

Real Madrid: Fiorentina plan raid for Odriozola, Mayoral and Jovic

Real Madrid and Fiorentina have struck up a good working relationship following the loan of Álvaro Odriozola to the Serie A side last summer, which has paved the way for further business between the clubs. According to reports in Italy, La Viola have their eye on three Madrid players whose futures remain uncertain while on the other hand it remains to be seen if the Bernabéu will enter the running for Fiorentina and Serbia striker Dusan Vlahovic, who has decided not to renew his contract at the Artemio Franchi Stadium and will in all likelihood be sold in January to cash in on the prolific 21-year-old.

Italian daily La Nazione, based in Florence and with good sources at the club, reports that Fiorentina have set their sights on a move for Borja Mayoral in January as a replacement for Vlahovic. Mayoral enjoyed an excellent spell at Roma last season but has been largely overlooked by José Mourinho in 2021-22 and Fiorentina are eager to persuade the on-loan Madrid striker to make the switch to Florence.

The loss of Vlahovic will be a considerable one for Fiorentina, the striker having bagged 10 goals in 13 appearances this season, and the Serie A side are looking at another Madrid player to help cover his departure: Vlahovic’s international teammate Luka Jovic. The 23-year-old’s lot at the Bernabéu has not improved under Carlo Ancelotti and Fiorentina are hoping that their relationship with Jovic’s agent, Fali Ramadani, who represents Nikola Milenkovic and Matija Nastasic, along with Madrid’s willingness to let Jovic go, will tip the balance in their favor.

While they are at the negotiating table, Fiorentina have one more piece of business they would like to resolve. The Italians are delighted with Odriozola and would like to make the move permanent. Representatives from both clubs are due to meet to discuss the possibility but Madrid may be reluctant to let the defender go with little in the way of natural cover at right back for Dani Carvajal. Any deal would also depend on Odriozola, who is reportedly verry happy in Florence, agreeing to give up on his dream of playing regularly for Madrid. The original deal was for a single-season loan only with no purchase option, which Fiorentina are hoping to renegotiate.
