LeBron James tried to get Isaiah Stewart's number to apologize
The Lakers star insists his elbow to the face of Isaiah Stewart that left him in a bloody rage was an accident and wants to apologize to the player.
During the third quarter of Sunday's matchup between the Lakers and the Pistons, you have probably read and/or seen by now...things got bloody. Lakers star LeBron James threw an elbow to Pistons Isaiah Stewart, leaving his face a bloody mess.
The ensuing bloodlust
Stewart's reaction, let's just say, was not subtle. Apparently LeBron tried to apologize right there on the court, but Stewart was seeing red. He tried multiple times to come towards James and had to be held back and the two were separated. As soon as it seemed he cooled down a bit and his arms were free, he charged towards James another time. Both players were ejected from the game.
It would seem that James wants to keep the peace. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, James actually tried to find out Stewart's phone number so he could apologize to him.
Charania reiterated the point that an offense like this is not common for LeBron James and that it should be taken into account when considering the consequences."I'm told LeBron James did try to track down Isaiah Stewart's number post game to apologize to Stewart again and let him know it was an inadvertent hit to his face," he said.
