Meaningful milestone
The forward says this milestone is significant to him. “I mean, it means the world. I dedicated my life to this game at an early age,” he said.
“Iverson, he was the pantheon for me. One of those guys that I emulated every time I went outside and played with my friends. It’s all surreal. I pictured I would be in the league, and had an idea… but to do it is pretty special.”
"I watched all of these guys I'm passing up. I wanted to be like them, I wanted to be in the NBA like them and make an impact in the league like them. Iverson was a pantheon for me"

After the last game, he is now only a few games shy of passing No. 24 Ray Allen who has 24,505 points, and is expected to do this in the coming weeks. Durant only needs 427 more points to catch up with No. 23 Patrick Ewing who has 24,815.
Time to move up
Only two other active players outrank the 33-year-old on the list of all-time scorers, both of them from the Los Angeles Lakers- LeBron James who is at number three, and Carmelo Anthony who is currently ninth.
Durant reached number 25 after only 14 seasons in the NBA.

Barring any serious injury, KD has a chance to move even further up the list this year to make it to the circle of 20. Sitting at number 20 is Alex English, the top scorer in the 1980s, with a total of 25,613.
Durant has been averaging 28.5 points so far this season, higher than his career average of 27 points. At the age of 33, he doesn’t look to be slowing down, and if he continues to crank out these kinds of numbers he will still move a long way up the ranks of ace NBA shooters.
