According to French outlet Le Parisien, Paris Saint-Germain have been in talks with Zinedine Zidane over becoming the next manager of the club.

The former Real Madrid boss, who has reportedly turned down an offer from Manchester United, has been increasingly linked to the French side with Mauricio Pochettino's future at the helm looking increasingly uncertain.

Talks held between PSG and Zidane

Talks, involving directors Leonardo and Jean-Claude Blanc, took place earlier this month in Paris. The first meeting between the two sides took place last summer, although negotiations did not progress as the France legend had just left Madrid on the back of a gruelling season and needed some time off.

PSG’s intention is to have Zidane on the touchline for next season, with negotiations reportedly heading in that direction. With the French club already rejecting an approach from Manchester United for their Argentinian manager, Pochettino’s decision could play a role in proceedings.

Linked with France role

A source close to PSG confirmed to Le Parisien that negotiations with Zidane have advanced in recent days, but it remains to be seen whether they will accelerate in the coming hours. Zidane has also been continually linked with the France job, with current boss Didier Deschamps set to step down after the 2022 World Cup.
