Arsenal star Gabriel fights off masked robbers in shocking baseball bat attack

CCTV footage released from the Metropolitan Police Department shows how Arsenal player Gabriel Magalhaes fought off some masked attackers in his home.

Attackers with baseball bats try to steal Gabriel's expensive Mercedes

The 23-year-old soccer star was just coming home after a night out and was followed by masked men, two of whom approached him in his garage. Gabriel parked his Mercedes in his north London home and got out of the car to see a man in a mask with a baseball bat, demanding his car keys, watch, and cell phone. In the footage, you can see Gabriel put his hands up and hand the man a watch out of his pocket.

The attacker lunged at Gabriel, swinging the bat at him. Gabriel was able to fight back. He hit him in the face and wrestled with him a bit before the attacker finally ran off. Fortunately, no real damage was caused and the attacker was later identified as Abderaham Muse and has been sentenced to five years in prison on one count of robbery and one count of possession of an offensive weapon. There were two others involved in the attack who were not caught.

"No injuries were suffered but a great deal of shock was caused," prosecutor Martin Lewis told Harrow Crown Court. "They happened to pick on two victims who were very fit and able to look after themselves."

Clearly, these attackers chose Gabriel because he had a nice car and they presumed him to be a wealthy person, but it would seem they were not aware of his identity. Unfortunately for them, they chose a professional athlete who had no trouble holding his own against them.
